Communication & Renewable Energy Infrastructure (CREI) is pleased to announce the implementation of its Telecom ESCO project in partnership with Sonatel Orange Mali.
With 2,625 telecom sites currently within the ESCO perimeter and plans for future growth, this initiative aims to deliver sustainable energy solutions to power Orange Mali’s expanding network across the country.
Since assuming operations, CREI has been working diligently to stabilise and enhance network availability, aligning with Orange Mali’s mission to provide reliable connectivity nationwide.
This collaboration also supports Orange Group’s global commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. A key focus of CREI’s efforts is the solarisation of power systems at telecom sites, which contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions and achieving a Renewable Energy Ratio (RER) of at least 50%, while significantly decreasing reliance on diesel generators.
By investing in and managing the power infrastructure of telecom sites, this ESCO project helps Orange Mali expand its coverage to underserved areas, promoting digital inclusion and economic opportunities in rural and remote communities and supporting Sonatel Group’s vision for driving digital transformation across Francophone Africa
The success of this ESCO project is pivotal for both Orange and CREI, highlighting their shared commitment to environmental stewardship, digital inclusion, and the delivery of innovative solutions to their stakeholders.
